Our Standard
How we choose, and the promises behind every piece we offer.
Four conditions
A piece joins the selection only when it meets all four. On each product page we write down how it meets them.
A named hand
We know who made each piece, where and how. Every piece carries its maker’s name, and never only ours.
Made for daily use
We choose pieces to cook, eat, drink and live with in a modern home. Objects made only for display are not part of the selection.
Honest value
Materials, time and skill should justify the price. We explain what goes into each piece so you can judge it for yourself.
Clear care
Each piece comes with use and care notes checked by its maker, so it can stay in daily use for a long time.

Across crafts
The same questions for glass, steel, lacquer, wood and clay.
Who made it, and how? Will it be used every day? Is the price honest? Can it be cared for? A cut-glass tumbler and a forged knife answer these questions in different ways. The standard stays the same.

How a piece is chosen
Find
We look for makers whose work meets our conditions, through visits, introductions and our own research.
Choose
We select specific pieces together with the maker and agree terms that work for them.
Present
We photograph and describe each piece. The maker checks the text before it is published.
Deliver
We pack each piece with care and send it with a card that names its maker.
Names
How names appear
The maker is always named. How KAZEN appears depends on its role in the piece.
| Line | Shown as | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Selection | Made by the maker / Selected by KAZEN | The maker’s own work, chosen by KAZEN. |
| Edition | The maker for KAZEN | Made by the maker to a KAZEN specification. |
| Collaboration | KAZEN × the maker | Designed together. |
| Originals | Designed by KAZEN | KAZEN’s own design. The producer is named on the product page. |
The selection opens first. Editions, collaborations and originals may follow.
